Seven Months, with Ox.

‘ullo Big Boy. ‘ullo Big LOUD boy!

Here’s a link to my brother, Spike at the same age. I’m bigger and have more teeth but he was more mobile. WAAAY more mobile. I’m enjoying the whole being carried around and coddled phase. I’m also MUCH better at sleeping than he was; this makes me their favourite.

Ahhh Boo!

Mo’s started eating baby food and has declared himself to be not too fond of the sweet stuff, except custard (although that’s more milky thick than fruity sweet). He loves carrots and pumpkin (we can’t get smooshed peas here but I’m pretty sure he’d dig ‘em) and yesterday he tried ‘bangers n mash’ which he thought was pretty great! He’s a maniac for a rusk and will strip that bad boy in no seconds flat with his two vicious front fangs.

sitting slouching balancing

His favourite toys are, his giraffe who has no name and is excellent to chew on. His car keys, which he loves to chew on and Ox… whom he loves to chew on (I’m detecting a pattern here) most things end up in this kids mouth. So, if you’ve lost something, drop us a line.

Although he doesn’t want to hold his own body weight up in a sitting position, he does prefer this vista. Ergo, the Jumperoo and his brother’s old walker are great places to be! He can scoot that walker backwards, alllll over the joint! He IS rolling over now but doesn’t like to be on his stomach for very long – it’s probably too much effort to hold his giant head up! We have a follow up appointment at the children’s hospital for another head measure in February – if he’s still WAY off chart but following his own curve, that will be the end of it but if it’s just growing like a giant pumpkin they will want to MRI his noggin. That means a general anaesthetic so Mumma is very much against this whole adventure. Otherwise, all is well. He is the decibel machine, full of drool and noise! Loves his brother and the feeling is mutual.

Our two boys.

Gigantor continues to control the city.  Not sure of his stats this month but I do have ‘tennis elbow’ or more pointedly, ‘giant baby carrying elbow’.  Such a happy little tock.  SO routined.  Sleeps all night – has done for a COUPLE of months now.

Let’s see – Sitting unaided?  Not a chance in hell!  Is only half rolling over.

Drooling unaided?  Absolutely!

Teeth?  Has one tiny white bugger breaking through, bottom row, front, left.

Movement?  Violent and vigorous.

Hangin! behind

Sleeping?  Like a perfect, perfect baby.  In bed by 9p, up around 8ish.  Will sometimes hang out in our bed for a hour or two if he wakes up early and go back to sleep.

Has just started properly investigating food.  Like his brother, not too jazzed with Farax.  Doesn’t mind some pureed fruit and thinks icecream is a-ok!

At this age, Spike was getting close to crawling.  Mo wouldn’t have a red hot clue!  Both boys were/are chewing everything in sight and love to yack!  I believe Mo is MUCH louder than Spike ever was!

And man, do those boys love each other? I shall remind them when they’re screaming at the other to “get out of my room” in a few years. I shall remind them and make them read their blogs. THEN write me a report.

Mostly, MoMo is completely adorable.  Funny as muck and just the best thing to have around when it comes to smooooochin’ time!  Can also whip up a cheese soufflé at the drop of a beret.

Well, we’re officially off the charts.  SO far off the charts we’ve been referred to a specialist to make sure he’s “just a boof” and not “Preparing to destroy Tokyo”.

STATS

7670g (16lb 9oz) 66.5cm (26.1″) and the chart busting melon, measuring in at a whopping 47cm!  The 105 percentile and a rapid increase overall the last 2 months.  This REALLY does explain how his clothes can fit him then NOT from ONE week to the next.  It seems we have given birth to, Gigantor.  (Cool theme song, though.)

BoofHead

The Doctor looked in the bassinet and smiled.  Well, I didn’t look and think, “Holy crap this kid’s got a big head.”  Then she pulled back the blanket.  “Oh ok, now he’s got a big head.”  Then she looked at Spike.  “But so’s he!” She’s right. We are the Big Bonce Family.  No doubt about it.  Either way, we’ll have him checked out at RCH then pick him up a neck brace!

Happy little bugger, he is.  Lays around, chewing his hands.  Yacking away to whom ever is in earshot – or not.  He doesn’t mind.  He will still yack.  Yackity yack yack yack!  HUGE smile, to go with the huge head, I guess?!  He’s become quite used to his brother launching himself towards him at 100 mph but it still makes my heart stop a little bit.  “Seriously Spike, he will be able to crush you between his thumb and forefinger by next week… pace yourself and earn his trust!”

He’s not rolling, too top heavy.

He’s not sitting, how could he?!

He’s not competing in the next Olympic Games… unless they add Neck Strength as a new event.

Olympic committee – if you do.  It’ll be Gold Gold Gold for Australia!  Here they are, tied for Gold.  Spike and Mo Big Head. I’m SO glad they were both caesarian sections!

Ready for steak and eggs? Oui Monsieur!  And a slice of ciabatta and some coffee for table four months, please.

This kid is ready and raring to go!  As he longingly gazed at us eating a bickie, the drool pooled and it seemed too cruel not to offer him some.  Snarf, grunt, nom, nom, nom! To say he was non-plussed when mother fished a broken (chokeable) piece out of his mouth is a bit like saying, “That Idi Amin was a bit of a wag.” He gnawed the life out of a rusk and looked for more. Morrison, not Idi (as far as I or Wikipedia know).

bickie!

STATS

Holy crap! 6.910kg (15lb 2oz!) (75%) 65cm tall (25″) (75%) and the head! I remember when we had to unpick the back of Spike’s Santa hat so it would fit him, but for Mo, we’re gonna need two hats joined together! A 45cm (17.7″) melon puts him in the 97th percentile!  What a boof!

He’s a happy, charming, (mostly) content kid.  Has suddenly developed a dislike for strangers holding him, which is making it difficult to palm him off in cafes and banks.  The blood curdling screams heard this morning were all thanks to the lovely student Maternal Health Nurse who dared carry him to the weigh station (kinda like the ones they have for trucks – as discussed, he’s a big boy!) out of my sight-line.  Poor lil bugger.  Calm was restored as I called him a Mummy’s Boy and tickled his very ticklish tum.

NomNom nomNum!

I know you’re not supposed to compare – but Spike was enjoying a lot of tummy time at this age.  Mo thinks it sucks. Although, he is extremely top heavy when you tip him over.  Kinda like a duck, dunking for fish/beetles/chocolate (I dunno what the dunk for).  Spike wasn’t interested in any food until he was well and truly past the 6 month mark – as reported, we’re kinda lucky to have made it this far with Mo.  They both love/d their Jumperoos.  Spike had the legs of a Scotsman I believe I reported and Morrison too, is well on his way.  He can bounce that thing like a pneumatic drill.

tah dah

They’re just great together. Mo smiles when Spike wanders by.  He also throws him arms up in defence as Spike launches himself towards him, “Hey little guy! You’re cute. Yes you are!” He’ll get used to it!

brothers

Although, we have started warning Spike, “You need to be gentle with Mo cause he’s going to be bigger than you… in about 5 minutes.” Together the two of them are so damn cute, how I don’t mash them into a paste and apply it directly to my cheeks I’ll never know!

The resiliance of kids, eh?

4 mnths of cute!

Dear Mo,

Today I dug a piece of cheese out of your mouth that your brother put in there cause, “Look Mum, he’s hungry.”

Yes, I heard you choke a bit but I would have checked eventually.

Slowly working out the controls on the Mumma and the Daddy unit that came with my life. The Mumma seems to be a bit more highly strung than the Daddy but also, more cuddly. The Daddy is waaaay calmer and has a deeper voice, aside from that they’re both pretty excellent. The loud sibling unit they call, Spike always seems to be .5 inches from my face, repeating my name and reminding me how tiny my fingers are. He’s cool!  He is also VERY handy for dummy retrieval duties (a hunk of velcro on my chin would not go astray, people!)

STATS

Tipping the scales at an impressive 13lbs 11oz (5,950gm) a whopping 59cm (23″) long and an almost-off-the-scale head circumference of 42.5cm sees Mo; a big boy! Very happy, mostly. Starting to chat up a storm and has a great throaty laugh. Also comes with Air Raid siren standard wail, great for getting attention.

Morrison’s hair has a life of its own. Each day brings a new do. Wild it is! Just like our wee boy. (don’t miss out, click on that last pic if you do nothing else with your day. hairlairyarse)

Mo thinks his swing is the kickingest place to be. All the cool baby’s hang out in their self propelled swings.  Dumb babies lay on the floor. :-) He really is, for the most part, bar those days I just want to give him away to passing strangers cause he wont sleep and is being a clingy pain in the arse, the most delightful kid! The chatting and the laughing earn him a lot of extras lives. ;-)

Who could resist this face?

Morrison and Ox.  Two Months.

Time flies when you’re growing up!  Life is good in Mo Land.  I get fed – ON demand (highly recommended)! I get to sleep where ever I want and I am carried from pillar to post.  Downsides are few.  My brother Spike thinks he’s ‘musical’ so he likes to play his ‘hannukha” (harmonica) approximately .05 inches from my face.  Bless ‘im.  Aside from that, life’s’ pretty cruisy.

STATS

I’ve chunked up to a whopping 5.1kg (11lb) have grown another 4cm in length (which explains why my size 0000 stuff no longer fits) and my hat size is also increasing. I’m smiling like a big flirt and am increasingly aware of all that goes on.  And I’m sleeping pretty well – better than my brother did at the same age!

~~

Morrison is losing that ‘newborn’ look by the day!  It’s heartbreaking! He’s a demanding little diva – patience not being a high priority on his “Things To Cultivate” list. And he’s VERY insistent when it comes to “Pick Me Up Now Please”.  He only asks nicely, once. To counter that behaviour, he’s got a smile that stops traffic.  A HUGE big ol’ grin! (Spike’s a little worried there are no teeth in there.)  So, he’s surviving it all juuuuuust fine!

SmilesAntiSmilessurprise

He’s a funny, intense little thing.  He likes to lay on his ‘activity’ mat (I could be so active!) and bat the things hanging in view and sacking out is great to do in the swingy chair – so long as Spike doesn’t give it a good “push, Mumma?  Too late.”

Morrison is getting chatty too – it seems to be a family trait (not passed down from father’s side). :-)   [Being with] Nana is by far, the best spot to hang out but Mumma’s arms come a close second. Daddy is pretty excellent at bouncing him up and down and we’re on 24/7 Spike Smother Alert as he loves on his baby brother.  Mo’s mohawk is not as impressive as Spike’s was but his dark hair is abundant and gorgeous. They’re quite different little creatures.  Interesting, it shall be.

Whatchoo looking at Spike?

Now, if I can just get the boys to synchronise their afternoon naps, I’ll be in heaven!
